Ill Manors behind the scenes

1) Plan B's intentions were to represent his own personal life and show the movie in an autobiographical way. He wanted to bridge the gap between audiences, those who can relate and face similar situations and those who do not understand the reasons behind the things youths do. Plan B also felt as though youths are misunderstood, therefore he showed character consequences in the film so audiences can be educated on young people more as most are misunderstood.

2) Plan B started out in the music industry and some of the characters in the film were used in his previous videos that were produced for film festivals. They were then recognised for their acting and people became more interested in them, who they were and what they do. Plan B decided to use Ed in Ill Manors, who he had used for a previous music video he shot. After Plan B's experience of short films he decided he wanted to write a script after the riot's which was successful and shortly turned into Ill  Manors. The film was low budget which was perfect for the film's representation as it shows a true image of the characters in the film and the themes/messages.

3) The target audience initially targets youths who are of a lower class and can relate to the situations that take place in the film. However, Plan B wanted to target it at those who do not understand why youths were involved in the riots and the reasons behind what they do. For example, people who end up in drug use and prostitution do it because they had no support to tell them they had a choice like others or feel as thought they are outcasts from society. Ill Manors can be used to bridge the gap between those in society who are lower class and face these situations, and the middle class who do not understand these situations.

4) Plan B's intention was to represent the misunderstood youth society and show unaware people that there are reasons behind the way people are and what they do. He made it clear in the film making documentary that he used locations in East London, Forest Gate where he had grown up as he had a real understanding of the area and felt it fit perfectly with the film and characters. These locations were all shown in the film as that is where it was set. It also gives Some of the smaller characters live in those locations in East London. Therefore they are just every day people who are not playing an act or role in the film, but just being and speaking to how they do in real life, giving Ill Manor a sense of realism. Plan B wanted Ill Manors to be an inspiration to those who face similar situations, as he starred in the film at the very end and a glimpse of him driving Aaron away from his troubled life and into a new one. This shows people that there is hope and they can have a happy ending if they get themselves out of bad situations.
